Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview
Ben Roethlisberger is looking old. Almost every star player hits a wall where he still thinks he has the body of a 25 year old but he doesn’t and Ben looks like that now. If he had a star running back he could still lead the Steelers to the playoffs and a potential Super Bowl. However, without Bell he tries to do more than he can now and that leads to turnovers.
James Conner is trending towards being doubtful, meaning we’ll get another week of Jaylen Samuels. Last week he had 142 yards on the ground, but this week he goes against the 3rd ranked run DVOA. He can be effective but he is not a replacement for Le’Veon Bell.
Antonio Brown caught his NFL-leading 13th receiving touchdown last week against the Patriots but finished with just four catches and 49 yards. JuJu Smith-Schuster didn’t have a good game last week and he was limited in practice do to injury (check to see if he plays as I have him playing right now). Vance McDonald is a guy to watch for the Steelers if JuJu can’t go.
Steelers Prop Bet Picks
Ben Roethlisberger Passing Yards UNDER 305.5 (-105)
Antonio Browns Receiving Yards UNDER 85.5 (-110)
New Orleans Saints Betting Preview
Drew Brees has shown big home/road splits and this is a home game for Brees. In six home games this season, Brees has a 20 touchdowns and just 1 interception. He also has four 300-yard games. In seven road games this season Brees has 11 touchdown and 4 interception with just one 300-yard game. The Steelers rank among the bottom third of the league in pass defense.
Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram have had a 60/40 timeshare favoring Kamara. I really like Kamara in this game. The Steelers run defense has been solid but they can be passed on and Kamara’s receiving abilities scream out for 5 or 6 receptions. I can see Ingram being brought in for a majority of the second half plays with a heavy emphasis on the run. But, it is Kamara who I have putting up over 100 combined yards.
Michael Thomas hasn’t scored a touchdown in four straight games but, three of those four games were on the road. The targets have been there during those four games (9, 13, 8, 6), so welcome home and enjoy your touchdown Thomas. Ted Ginn was activated off the I.R. and is eligible to come back at any time. His return would hurt Tre’Quan Smith who really hasn’t shown that much recently.
Saints Prop Bet Picks
Drew Brees Passing Yards OVER 257.5 (-118)
Alvin Kamara Receiving Yards OVER 38.5 (-118)
Michael Thomas Receiving Yards OVER 85.5 (-115)
Steelers vs Saints Betting Prediction:
The Steelers are not the team they used to be. In fact, both the Steelers & Patriots look like they are heading downward. The Saints on the other hand look like a team on the rise with a defense that looks ready to go deep in the playoffs. The Saints defense should be able to shutdown the Steelers running game and Ben will have to win the game passing the ball. He should end up with at least two interceptions against this defense. On offense, the Saints should be able to score more than the Chargers did a couple of weeks ago. I have this one a blowout as the Saints finish their humiliation of the State of Pennsylvania….sorry Eagles fans.
