Washington Redskins Betting Preview

Quarterback Colt McCoy wasn’t great on Thanksgiving day but he nearly pulled off an upset over the Cowboys, losing 31-23. McCoy had 24 completions on 38 attempts for 268 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He was also sacked three times and fumbled once. The Eagles have been terrible lately on defense and McCoy has a good matchup against a depleted Eagles secondary. The Eagles pass DVOA is now 18th but, that is a misleading because there has been a precipitous drop recently do to injuries in the secondary.

Running back Chris Thompson looks like he will play for the first time since Week 8. Thompson had reception totals of 6, 6 and 13 in games earlier this season, so he is a good receiving back and last week against the Cowboys McCoy did pass 38 times. This looks like a good spot for him to get 5+ receptions. Adrian Peterson has averaged just 14 carries in his last four games and the best matchup for the Redskins offense tonight is the quick passing game that avoids the Eagles pass rush.

Last week Vernon Davis had two catches for 73 yards with a touchdown and Jordan Reed added six catches and 75 yards. Josh Doctson led the wide receivers with six catches for 66 yards. This week he has a much better matchup and if McCoy gets the time he should be open. Trey’Quinn Smith added five catches and a touchdown last week.

The Redskins lost to the Cowboys 31-23 but, if you watched the Saints vs Cowboys game you noticed that the Cowboy defense has developed into one of the better defenses in the league. The Redskins should be able to top the 23 point mark against a banged up Eagles defense.

Total Receiving Yards – Josh Doctson (WAS) Over 40.5 (-115)

Total Rushing Yards – Adrian Peterson (WAS) Under 55.5 (-115)

Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

The Eagles beat the Giants 25-22 last week but the Giants lost the game more than the Eagles won it. Carson Wentz did not look good again but he did lead them back in the fourth quarter for the win.

Josh Adams has moved into the lead back roll and should be getting 15+ carries a game. Last week he had 22 carries for 84 yards and one touchdown. His touches come at the expense of Smallwood. Darren Sproles has returned but he had a hamstring injury so I don’t expect him to be a factor tonight.

Zach Ertz had 7 catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. The missing man on this offense is Golden Tate who played on 60% of the snaps last week and had eight targets, however he had only four catches for 30 yards. The target order is Ertz, Alshon Jeffrey Tate and, Nelson Agholor.

The Eagles defense was shredded by the Giants in the first half last week but then the Giants went into a shell in the second half. The Redskins with McCoy at quarterback will keep flinging the ball even with a lead. The Eagles are going to have to score more than they did last week to win.

Eagles Prop Bet Picks

Total Receptions – Golden Tate (PHI) Under 5 (-160)

Total Receptions – Alshon Jeffery (PHI) Under 4.5 (-130)

Total Passing Yards – Carson Wentz (PHI) Over 265.5 (-115)

Total Rushing Yards – Josh Adams (PHI) Over 64.5 (-115)

Redskins vs Eagles Score Prediction:

The Giants didn’t keep up the pressure on the Eagles secondary but the Redskins will. The Eagles defense will be able to get to McCoy several times and he will throw interceptions but he will also throw touchdowns. Carson Wentz hasn’t looked that good recently but with his receiving corp he will be able to put up 300 yards passing in a game that will need 30 points to win.

Pick: Redskins +6.5

Score: Eagles 33 – Redskins 31
