Cleveland Browns Betting Preview
The Browns are 7-7-1 and have a chance to finish the season with a winning record for the first time since 2007. A win over the Ravens would also give the Steelers a chance at the playoffs. Baker Mayfield is coming off a three-touchdown game last week against the Bengals, but he is not playing the Bengals this week. The Ravens defense showed what they could do by shutting down the Chargers offense on the road last week.
This isn’t good for Nick Chubb, who has seen 18 or more carries in seven of his last nine games. I’m expecting the touches to be there for Chubb, but if he is going to get yards it will be as a receiver and not as a runner.
The problem with these Browns pass catchers is that Mayfield spreads the ball out so much that any receiver can have a big day or a bust. Last week 10 different players were targeted. In a game where the Browns will need to throw to win, the tight end should be the beneficiary of receptions if not yards.
Browns Prop Bet Picks
Total Receiving Yards – David Njoku (CLE) OVER 34.5 (-115)
Total Passing Yards – Baker Mayfield (CLE) OVER 237.5 (-110)
Total Rushing Yards – Nick Chubb (CLE) UNDER 65.5 (-115)
Baltimore Ravens Betting Preview
With a win, the Ravens will clinch the AFC North. If the Ravens lose and the Steelers win, the Ravens will miss the playoffs. Rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson hasn’t been forced to throw more than 25 times in a game and I do not see a reason for that to change against the Browns. His rushing upside should be in play here with the Browns defense that is good against the pass but subpar against the run.
Gus Edwards should get a lot of usage in the running game. His weakness is as a receiver but with the Ravens going run heavy in the game he should get 20+ carries. Kenneth Dixon has been in on passing situations so I do not expect him to be on the field a lot in this one.
With the Ravens moving to a run-heavy offense, there’s just not enough volume here for anyone to do well consistantly.
Ravens Prop Bet Picks
Receptions – Willie Snead (BAL) UNDER 3 (-120)
Passing Yards – Lamar Jackson (BAL) UNDER 172.5 (-120)
Rushing Yards – Gus Edwards (BAL) OVER 74.5 (-115)
Browns vs Ravens Betting Prediction:
The Ravens defense is back. I know the Browns have finally turned the corner from laughing stock to competitive but the Ravens are a playoff caliber team playing at home. While the emphasis will be on the Browns offense vs the Ravens defense, the deciding matchup will be how the Ravens offense can move against the Browns. The Browns defense can be run on and the Ravens will stay committed to the run and they should be able to rack up over 200 yards on the ground.
