Chicago Bears Betting Preview
Mitchell Trubisky has an injured shoulder and as of now he is probable to play. In his last seven games, he has thrown for 18 touchdowns and had only 6 interceptions. Combine that with the Lions 31st rank in pass DVOA and you can see why if he plays he should have a big game. The last time these two played the Lions only had 1 sack for 7 yards so Trubisky should be comfortable in the pocket against this defense. If Trubisky can’t go then Chase Daniel would start. His last start came in 2014 where he went 16/27 for 157 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions.
At running back, if Trubisky does not start there will be a big shift to the running game. The Bears would just play defense and run Jordan Howard all day. Howard led the team last week with 18 carries but only rushed for 63 yards. Tarik Cohen should be in a good position no matter who starts at quarterback. If Trubisky starts then his pass catching abilities vs a weak pass defense are in play. If Trubiskly does not start then there will be added rushing attempts for both him and Howard.
At receiver, it depends on Trubisky’s status. If Trubisky plays, everyone of the Bears receivers is in play, Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller and Trey Burton. Of the group Robinson has the hardest matchup because of Darius Slay. Miller has touchdowns in three of his last four games, while Gabriel led the team last week with nine targets.
Bears Prop Bet Picks
Total Receiving Yards – Tarik Cohen (CHI) over 33.5 (-145)
Total Receptions – Tarik Cohen (CHI) over 4 (-115)
Total Rushing Yards – Jordan Howard (CHI) over 60.5 (-125)
Detroit Lions Betting Preview
The Lions are coming off an upset victory over the Panthers and now play division rival Bears on a short week. Matthew Stafford, looks like he will be down a couple of key offensive players and that will be a problem against one of the NFL’s top defenses. The Bears dominated the Lions’ offensive line in the first game between these rivals. Chicago sacked Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford 6 times for 45 yards. Stafford also threw 2 interceptions and only completed 25-of-42. That’s a potential recipe for turnovers and sacks, but that could also allow Stafford to rack up the garbage yards.
At running back, Kerryon Johnson looks doubtful to play, and that will force them to play: LeGarrette Blount, Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner. The guy I like is Riddick with his pass receiving abilities he should be in play all game long. Since the trade of Golden Tate, Riddick has averaged six receptions per game and will be Staffords safety valve in this game.
At recever, Marvin Jones looks like he will not be able to play which means Kenny Golladay will be the primary receiver to get targets on Thanksgiving. Over the last two weeks he has a combined 14 receptions, 191 receiving yards and, two touchdowns. The volume will be there even if it is garbage time he will still be on the field. Bruce Ellington emerged as the team’s #2 receiver and last week had 6 receptions for 52 yards.
Lions Prop Bet Picks
Total Passing Yards – Matthew Stafford (DET) over 263.5 (-115)
Total Completions – Matthew Stafford (DET) over 24 (-115)
Total Receptions – Theo Riddick (DET) over 6 (-105)
Bears vs Lions 2018 Thanksgiving Day Game Final Betting Analysis
Before the Week 10 loss, the Detroit Lions had beaten the Chicago Bears in 9-of-10, including winning the last 3. The Bears came into that Week 10 battle healthier and it showed. Detroit couldn’t stop the Bears’ pass rush even though they knew from the beginning what Chicago’s strategy was going to be.
There is no reason for a different result. The Lions are beat up on offense and the Detroit secondary can be beat. The Bears should be able to get an early lead and be able to have the defensive pass rush take care of any Lions attempt to come back in the game. I do not have this one as a big blowout but I do have the Bears dominating the game and covering the spread.
Bears vs Lions Betting Pick & Score Prediction:
Bears 24 – Lions 17
Beware the garbage time cover by Detroit as I have Stafford throwing for a lot of late yards.
