Michigan State vs Washington State
2017 Holiday Bowl Betting Preview
The Spartans are ninth in the country in total offensive yards allowed per game with 298 and they allow just 101.3 on the ground, which ranks fifth in the nation. On the other side, Washington State is second in the country in passing yards per game with 392.3.
The Washington State Cougars (9-3, 6-3 Pac-12) are known for their offense but this year they ranked second in the Pac-12 in total defense, allowing 313.6 yards per game. The Cougars were No. 1 in the Pac-12 in pass defense, allowing an average of 167.4 yards and just eight touchdown passes this season. Washington State’s passing game has been on of the top in the nation with quarterback Luke Falk leading the way with 3,593 yards and 30 touchdowns. However, the team will be without two of its top three receivers after Tavares Martin Jr., who led the club in catches, was dismissed from the team and Isaiah Johnson-Mack left the program. Look for running back Jamal Morrow (56 catches, 479 yards, five TDs) and wide receiver Kyle Sweet (50, 481, two) to pick up the targets in this one.
The Michigan State Spartans (9-3, 7-2 Big Ten) quarterback Brian Lewerke had 2,580 passing yards and 17 touchdowns this season. Running back LJ Scott has a season total of 788 yards with six touchdowns. The Spartans were not happy to get this bowl game instead of a New Years Day game and it remains to see now motivated they will be.

Michigan State vs Washington State
In past years the big match up would be the Spartan defense vs the Cougar offense. But, this season the Cougars have developed a real defense that is capable of shutting down the Michigan State offense. The Cougar offense did take a hit with the loss of the two top receivers on the team. This game will be lower scoring than most bowl games with the Spartans hard pressed to get more than 17 points. I am taking two bets with the Cougars and the under.
