NFL Player Prop Betting Preview

Atlanta Falcons

The total is over 50 points even though these teams just played a 20-17 game in Week 14. If they are going to go over the total Matt Ryan is going to need to have one of his best games of the year. It is amazing how far Ryan has fallen off since last year.

2016 (16 games) = 70% completions, 4,944 yards, 38 TD, 7 INT, 117.1 passer rating

2017 (14 games) = 65% completions, 3,490 yards, 18 TD, 11 INT, 92.0 passer rating

The Saints have a solid pass defense, and I see no reason to expect Ryan will turn it around today. At running back for the Falcons, Tevin Coleman is still in the concussion protocol, but he may play. If he does not then Devonta Freeman is going to get 20+ touches. Last week he had 194 total yards from scrimmage and a pair of touchdowns. With Matt Ryan having a bad year it is expected that the receivers would also have had an off year. Julio Jones is no longer considered a top receiver and he is overrated because of name recognition. This is a good spot to go against him. Mohamed Sanu is a better play for the over on yardage and receptions.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints have become more of a run first team and Drew Brees hasn’t needed to put up big numbers for them to win. However, Atlanta doesn’t have an elite defense so Brees is in play today. Brees threw for 271 yards and a pair of touchdowns when these two teams met earlier and I expect him to do at least as much this time. The running game gets muddled with Alvin Kamara healthy again. There will be good production from the position but will it be him or Mark Ingram. Both had twelve carries and a handful of targets last week. Ingram had 151 total yards from scrimmage and a pair of scores. At running back I will be taking the over on Ingram. At receiver, Ted Ginn is hurt and they do not have a very good pass receiving tight end so Michael Thomas should be getting the targets which puts him in play for the over on both yards and receptions.

Falcons vs Saints Betting Predictions

Both of these teams are in the playoff hunt and there is a decent chance both can make it. The Falcons beat the Saints a couple of weeks ago in Atlanta and the Saints will return the favor today. The total for this game is set based on past years results and not two teams that will play today. The Saints defense should dominate the game and get the cover.
