Oregon vs Boise State Betting Preview
The man to watch in this game is Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert. When he was in the lineup Oregon averaged 52.1 points in the seven games and just 15 points in the five games he missed due to injury. Of course the big question is how the Ducks will react now that head coach Willie Taggart accepting the job at Florida State. There will be continuity for the Ducks as offensivce coordinator Mario Cristobal will lead the Ducks in Las Vegas. The Broncos have maintained a high level of performance this season but a 28-17 loss to Fresno State in their pre-championship really lowered their national predominance. Boise State did bounce back with a 17-14 victory in the Mountain West title game.
One person not getting a lot of notice for Boise (10-3, 7-1 Mountain West) is their top offensive weapon running back Alexander Mattison who is considered questionable after he suffered an ankle injury in the victory over Fresno State. Mattison had 1,074 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns this season. If he can not go the Boise State quarterbacks did combine for 24 TDs against five interceptions this season but, they will become one dimensional without Mattison. The Oregon Ducks (7-5, 4-5 Pac-12) running back Royce Freeman ran for 1,475 yards and 16 touchdowns this season.
Oregon Ducks vs Boise State Broncos Betting Prediction
Oregon averaged 52 points in games started by Herbert, who will be back next year and will be in the running for the 2018 Heisman Trophy. While Boise has been a public favorite over the years, in this game the far better team is Oregon. They are back and the offense is on the level of the old Chip Kelley days. Boise will be able to score against the Duck defense which is still not ready for a major bowl game and the over has been creeping up and it should continue to go up until kickoff.
