Lions vs Packers Betting Preview 11-06-17
Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 423 yards in last Sunday’s 20-15 loss to Pittsburgh, but the Detroit Lions went 0-for-5 in the red zone and fell to 28th in the league in that situation as the Lions settled for five field goals by Matt Prater. The Detroit Lions (3-4) Golden Tate didn’t let an ailing shoulder slow him down last week as he recorded seven receptions for the second straight game. Wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. had six catches for the third consecutive game and had 128 yards receiving last week. Detroit’s running game hasn’t had a 100 yard rusher in 59 games. Running back Ameer Abdullah leads in attempts (101) and yards (369) for the Lions.
The Packers (4-3) lost two-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers (broken collarbone) and they started backup Brett Hundley who has answered with a three interception in relief of Rodgers. Hundley completed just 12-of-25 passes for 87 yards and an interception in his first career start – a 26-17 loss to New Orleans on Oct. 22. The Packers had their bye the following week, with coach Mike McCarthy and Rodgers working with Hundley in a bid to address some issues with the team’s 243.5-yard total offense in the near-two games since Rodgers was injured. He has the weapons around him with Jordy Nelson who is tied for second in the NFL with six receiving touchdowns.
Lions vs Packers Betting Prediction
Every year there is a team that is a Super Bowl contender and then the quarterback gets hurt and everyone asks, “why didn’t they have a good backup?”. This year it is the Packers. They could have made a trade to bring someone else in but the decided to go with Hundley and he will not be able to lead this team anywhere. The Packers talent other than Rodgers is slightly above average but without him they are not a playoff team. The Lions have really can not run the ball. I expect Stafford to throw a lot again even if the Lions do get a lead. The Lions offense will get a lot of yards again this week but they will also be able to turn some of those red zone drives into touchdowns and come away with the win and cover.
