Cowboys vs Falcons Prop Betting Preview
Dak Prescott will have to carry the team without running back Zeke Elliott in action. Even if the score is a low one the Cowboys will depend on Dak running or throwing once they are in the red zone. This will mean that Cowboy running back Alfred Morris will get more touches but he is no Zeke. It is more likely that the Cowboys will go to a ball control passing game than try and run it like Zeke was still playing. I like Dez Bryant if he is healthy so check the morning injury report on him. If he plays then expect him to be a bigger factor in the ball control passing game than he has been in recent weeks. If he doesn’t play then we are left with Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams, along with Brice Butler. If you are betting on touchdowns then the question is who gets the red zone targets if Dez doesn’t play? Jason Witten has the size to still be an effective receiver inside the red zone and he should be the primary receiver if Dez is out.
Remember last years Falcon offense and how Matt Ryan had become an elite quarterback? Well this is 2017 and here are the Falcons last five offensive scoring totals:
Buffalo = 17 points
Miami = 17 points
New England = 7 points
New York Jets = 25 points
Carolina = 17 points
Over those last five games the Falcons are (1-4) and while the Cowboys defense isn’t the best it has gotten better and should be able to contain the Falcons offense.
Matt Ryan has never had two good years in a row and I do not see any reason for him to turn things around in the second half of the season. The running backs split carries with Devonta Freeman in on about two-thirds of the snaps, while Tevin Coleman plays on the other third. This could be a good spot for Freeman with Dallas ranking 30th in DVOA against the run. However, Dallas did shut down Kareem Hunt a week ago and the return of Sean Lee at linebacker had a lot to do with that. What happened to Julio Jones? He dropped a touchdown pass last week that hit him right in the hands. It is hard to believe much in Mohamed Sanu with Julio Jones no longer needing heavy coverage by the defensive backs. So no love for the #2 or #3 receiver in this game. Either Jones does something special or the offense will bog down completely.

Dez will play so I like him and Jones to both do well in this game. I do not have this game as a shootout but I do have both defenses able to slow down the running game and that will cause both offenses to do a lot of short and medium range passing. Both Dez and Julio will get 10+ targets and that should drive up the receptions and yards.
