College Football National Champion Betting Prediction 2017
The College Football Playoffs begin on January 1st 2018. Could the Rose Bowl revert back to its Pac12 vs Big10 past? I have it that way. My preseason picks have the Penn State Nittany Lions vs the Washington Huskies. In the other semi final game in New Orleans I have two teams from the south going at it with the Florida State Seminoles vs the Alabama Crimson Tide. If this happens the bowl committees and ESPN will be happy. These four schools will bring in top ratings and they will all travel well. Not that ratings or money ever influenced the NCAA.
Alabama Tide +250
Alabama is the favorite once again to win it all. The defense lost some top talent but the Tide just reloaded. The linebacker unit will have three new starters but by the time the playoffs roll around they will be fine. On offense quarterback Jalen Hurts needs to develop into a better passer to be a true dual-threat. It helps that he will be able to throw to one of best receiving corps in football. Like Alabama needs anymore help. Running back Bo Scarbrough is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate. I have the Tide going to the National Championship game again.
Florida State Seminoles +900
The Seminoles return nine starters from last years defense and they get back Derwin James, who should be one of the top defenders in college football. This defense is loaded, deep and experienced. On offense, quarterback Deondre Francois threw for 3,350 yards and 20 touchdowns as a freshman. The offense may be a little inconsistency as the offensive line play is good but not great. Florida State will play against Alabama in Atlanta to open the season. A rematch in the playoffs? FSU has a schedule that is strong enough to overcome a week one loss to Bama and still make the playoffs if they run the table. Of course, a win over Bama could propel them to the top spot in September.
Washington Huskies +2200
The Huskies are still ascending in the Pac-12 and will make another run at the title. Quarterback Jake Browning is back after throwing for 3,430 yards and 43 scores last season. He returns most of the offensive line and a deep group of running backs. The Huskies should run the table if the defense comes along. New defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski is one of the best in the nation and they have top talent at linebacker and in the secondary. The schedule is one of the easiest of any team competing for the playoffs. Washington does not play USC in the regular season and will be at home vs Oregon and Washington State. The only game they should really need to worry about is a trip to Stanford. The one downside of having this easy of a schedule is that one loss and they are done. I have them beating the Trojans in the PAC12 Title game and heading to the playoffs with an undefeated season.
Penn State Lions +2000
The Nittany Lions coach James Franklin is about to become a hero in Pennsylvania. He will bring this program back from the dead and into the playoff picture. The Lions return quarterback Trace McSorley and running back Saquon Barkley. The offensive line loses only one starter and receivers are a deep group that needs one player to emerge as the top threat. The defense is one of the best in the country and will be the cornerstone of the return of the Nittany Lions. The one game that Penn State must win to be back is at Ohio State (Oct. 28). Other than that game they should be favored and at home vs Michigan (Oct. 21), Nebraska (Oct. 18) and Pitt (Sept. 9).
2018 College Football National Champion Betting Prediction
Who am I placing my money on to win it all? All four of them! I know this sounds like cheating but I have at least two of these four teams making the playoffs and I am in it for the money. Take a look at the odds from BetOnline.ag. By spreading the money around. If any of them win I will make money.
How I divide my bankroll on the four teams.
66% on Alabama +250
8% on Penn State +2000
8% on Washington +2200
18% on Florida State +900
My pick to win it all? Alabama. Saban will be out for revenge and he will get it. Of course, I wouldn’t mind one of my other picks winning it all. In case you didn’t do the math. Spreading out a $100 bankroll would return
Alabama win $165
Penn State win $160
Washington win $176
Florida State win $162
