2017 Arizona Cardinals Futures Bet Season Win Total Prediction

Does Carson Palmer have another year left?

The Cardinals did not draft a quarterback this year which means the Cardinals are gambling on 37 year old Carson Palmer to have at least one good year left in him. Palmer’s numbers dipped in 2016, with fewer yards and touchdown passes and a big drop in passer rating from 2015. Not drafting a quarterback was definitely a “future is now” move.

Running back David Johnson is part of the reason that the Cardinals are going all out for this year. The hope is that getting the ball to him 30 times a game will take the pressure off of Palmer and allow the slow footed QB time to throw off of play action.

Will the defense be as good as last years?

The Cardinals had a tough decision to make between outside linebacker Chandler Jones and defensive end Calais Campbell. Arizona used the franchise tag on Jones and signed him to a long-term deal. However, this left Campbell free to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. How will the Cardinals’ defensive front look without Campbell, one of the NFL’s best 3-4 ends?  Robert Nkemdiche, a 2016 first-round pick will have to prove this was a good decision. Even though they kept Chandler Jones, the Cardinals first round pick was linebacker Haason Reddick of Temple. Reddick was one of the fastest linebackers in the draft and may fill in as a pass rushing defensive end.

Arizona Cardinals Futures Prediction

The Cardinals had a decent draft and the defense may be improved over last years team. On offense David Johnson suffered a knee injury in the last game of the year but should be ready to go in game one. The big question for the Cardinals is at quarterback. Carson Palmer looked old last year. He has always been slow footed and slow to deliver the ball. At this point in his career any team with a decent pass rush should be able to get to him. The season win total is a reachable 8.5. With a weak division and a top running game the Cardinals will be able to win enough games to make the wild card.
