NFL Prop Betting Predictions Week 2
It is the second week of the season and now we have some game film to go off of for this weeks prop bets. For the uninitiated, props typically look at players’ yardage totals, receptions and completions. If you play daily fantasy football with Fanduel or Draftkings then you already have a basic understanding of how to go about looking for a player. Just like DFS, we are looking for players who we think will over perform.
In the space below, we’re going to identify players who might outperform expectations or fail to meet them. All prop lines appearing below are courtesy Bovada.
Quarterback Drew Brees New Orleans Saints
Passing yards over/under 325.5 over (-125) under (-105)
Last week the Saints and Raiders combined for 855 passing yards. For the Saints this could almost be a every week occurrence with one of the best offenses in the NFL combined with the worst defense. My projection for Brees this week is 30/44 for 354 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Pick: Over 325.5 passing yards
Running Back Adrian Peterson Minnesota Vikings
Rushing yards over/under 79.5 over (-125) under (-105)
Sam Bradford will be a step up from Hill at quarterback. The Vikings just need an average quarterback for the play action pass to be effective. They will run Peterson over and over to set it up. Even if the Vikings get down early to the Packers they will still use Peterson on some trap plays to keep the Packers from rushing Bradford. Projection for Peterson is 21 rushes for 93 yards.
Pick: Over 79.5 rushing yards
Quarterback Josh McCown Cleveland Browns
Passing yards over/under 225.5 over (-125) under (-105)
Josh McCown gets the start after RG3 was injured in week one. While he might be an upgrade at quarterback, the rest of the team will be just as sorry as last weeks team. Without Josh Gordon this isn’t an offense that can make a big play. The offensive line is weak and they just don’t have anyway of sustaining drives. On the other side I can see Baltimore going to a ball control offense to hold on to the ball for large chunks of the game. I am not betting on him getting injured but, I do expect him to get beat up and be under a heavy pass rush the entire game. My projections are 20/34 for 201 passing yards.
