Packers vs Steelers Game Betting Preview

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the top seed in the AFC and will are on a five-game winning streak when the host the Green Bay Packers tonight. The Packers trail three teams by one game for the NFC’s final playoff slot. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is coming off his best game of the season in a 40-17 rout of Tennessee and he has really turned things around since a humiliating home loss to Jacksonville in Week 5, On the opposite side is a Green Bay team that has dropped four of five since Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone and was shut out at home for the first time since 2006 in last week’s 23-0 loss to Baltimore.

The Packers (5-5) had 93 points during a three-game winning streak prior to the injury to Rodgers, but they are averaging 13.4 in the five games since Brett Hundley took over. Hundley was intercepted three times by the Ravens and has only two scoring passes against seven interceptions since becoming the starter. The Packers offense might be in even worse shape with injuries to Ty Montgomery and Aaron Jones, who both did not practice Wednesday. What was lost during the slide is that the Packers defense has been playing better and the defense limited Baltimore to 219 yards of total offense last week.

Since the loss to Jacksonville, Ben Roethlisberger the Steelers have run off five straight and he has thrown for 1,328 yards with 10 TDs and with a 102.7 passer rating. Pittsburgh is second in the league at 16.5 points allowed and has not permitted more than 17 points during the five game win streak.

Packers vs Steelers Player Prop Bet Preview

Green Bay Packers

Brett Hundley is simply not ready to be an NFL quarterback. He committed four turnovers last week against the Ravens as the Packers got shut out, and this week’s matchup doesn’t get any better. The Packers running Backs would normally be the place to look for touches but Ty Montgomery and Aaron Jones will both be sidelined again this week, which should open the door for Jamaal Williams to make another start. However, Williams is not a good receiver and may end up just being a blocking back on passing plays. Those big Green Bay receiver numbers are just not an option with Hundley at quarterback. The Steelers are playing good defense and the few times Packer receivers will get open, I do not trust Hundley to throw it to them.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is on a roll and with Green Bay ranked 23rd in the league in DVOA against the pass he should have his chances to put up good numbers. The only worry here is the early blowout that has been on the sidelines in the fourth quarter. Running Back Le’Veon Bell will get his touches and that is why I like him more than Ben tonight. He is involved in all aspects of Pittsburgh’s offense, and he will get 25+ touches tonight. Wide receiver Antonio Brown will get his targets I have Ben wanting to make sure the home crowd gets entertained with at least one big play to Brown. With JuJu Smith-Schuster injured we will see Martavis Bryant and he should have a decent night with plenty of targets.
